The website "Construction Carbon Index" is a practical carbon measurement tool developed by a team of researchers in National University of Singapore’s Department of Building. The tool is developed as part of an ongoing research project “Developing Carbon Index for Construction Projects" funded by Ministry of National Development (MND) Research Fund for the Built Environment. It collates information on the embodied energy and associated embodied carbon of major construction materials used in Singapore's construction industry. It also serves as a means to compile information on energy usage related to construction activities in Singapore.
"Construction Carbon Index" is based on the principles of Lifecycle analysis. The objective of the tool is to help organisations in the construction industry to measure and benchmark their construction carbon footprint. The tool is recognised under BCA Green Mark for New Non-Residential Buildings Version NRB/4.0 and BCA Green Mark for New Residential Buildings Version RB/4.0.
